Serena Williams will compete in round three of the U.S. Open for what she claims will be her final event, and anyone who enjoys watching tennis, sports, or simply Serena Williams may watch.
Williams will compete against Ajla Tomljanovic on Friday after earlier this week’s second-round victory (Sept. 2). At 7 p.m. ET, the game is set to start at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Other tennis luminaries competing at the U.S. Open include Andy Murray, Daniil Medvedev, Coco Gauff, Nick Kyrgios, Maria Sakkari, Rafael Nadal, Madison Keys, and Nick Kyrgios.
Louis Armstrong Stadium and Grandstand U.S. Open matches get underway at 11 a.m. ET. Arthur Ashe Stadium games start off at 12:00. Night rounds get underway at 7 ET.
Williams and her sister, Venus Williams, were defeated by Linda Noskova and Lucie Hradecka in their doubles match on Thursday, but they were given a standing ovation as they left the court.
Williams defeated Anett Kontaveit on Wednesday and moved on to the third round. Following Monday’s victory over Danka Kovini, a special homage was given in honor of the 23-time Grand Slam champion. Billie Jean King, Gayle King, and an Oprah Winfrey-narrated film were all part of the homage.
