It was just a matter of time until Tesla would eventually hit the racing world. Obviously, Elon Musk won’t create a petrol engine just for this purpose. Instead, the new Tesla P100 will race in the Electric GT Championship. The series will stretch over famous circuits like Nurburgring, Brands Hatch and Estoril.
The Electric GT prepared Tesla boasts some amazing stats. It does 0-100 km/h in just 2.1 seconds, thanks to the instant torque of electric motors. The speed goes up thanks to the 778 HP delivered to the wheels and almost 1000 Nm of torque. Tesla put its GT unit to a severe diet, dropping 500 kg compared to the standard P100. Furthermore, standard brakes and suspension is switched with racing grade equipment.
You simply can’t mistake the GT version for its road-legal sister. The P1000 GT is dressed in a wide body kit. Improved aerodynamics also come from a strategic air splitter and huge rear wing.
Races will debut with 20 minutes of warm up, then a qualifying session of one hour. At the end, pilots will take their positions on the starting grid, waiting for green light.
