Body 2.0
An Austin-based software design firm called Chaotic Moon are here to give us a new meaning on how our skin can work. Tech Tats is the name of the innovation. We are not turning to cyborgs, but we become more defined and more refined. We basically talk about a wearable techs, or, how they like to put it, Biowearables.
The idea behind this brilliant concept is an electromagnetic ink which coupled with an ATiny85 micro-controller provides the user with real-time health stats, such as the body temperature, sweat, but more importantly, heart rate and hydration level. It’s like a Fitbit, but incorporated inside of you, weightless, cheaper and even more classy (as you can hide it underneath the clothes). If you feel like it’s a bit too much, no worries, the whole thing is just temporary.
The Next Revolution
Let’s be clear about one thing: this is revolutionary. Why, you ask ? Because, as the creators say, like this, in the future, we will be able to diagnose different illnesses at home or giving the info straight to the doctors, obtain directions and keep in touch with distant relatives. The whole thing is just in the prototyping phase, but I’ll play the enthusiast guy role here and call it the Smart People concept. Just think of it: googling something by just thinking of it. Alright, maybe I’m gone a little too far right here, but let’s enjoy where technology developments got us to.
Also, try to think about the aesthetic implications. Ink on the body is a form of art, one which was around the world for ages, long before the civilized world imposed its point of view.
In conclusion, it’s not about giving yourself in to any form of virtual world. Neither should it be about limiting any form of freedom, but all about progress. It’s a new concept, for now let’s concentrate on how cool it is to know all these things directly from your skin and we’ll focus about the rest as the future unravels.
