Here is all that is known about Team R.M. Williams Commonwealth Games and their Australian uniforms 2022. Australia wore the first official R.M. Williams-designed uniforms for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. The squad proudly wore vintage Australian-inspired clothing, as well as the company’s recognizable leather boots made by hand in Adelaide, South Australia.
The whole uniform offering for the Commonwealth Games comprises a complimentary selection of formal outfits for men and women, as well as limited-edition footwear and useful accessories.
It is a celebration of legacy design and Australian workmanship. The majority of the collection was produced in Australia because of a commitment to domestic manufacturing. The team’s players and officials will be dressed in a total of over 690 outfits for a variety of events, including the opening and closing ceremonies on August 8th.
R.M. Williams has collaborated with Commonwealth Games Australia on the design and fabrication of ceremonial costumes twice, first for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and now for this event. All this to create the R.M. Williams Commonwealth Games.
As part of a long-term commitment to helping the country’s athletic elite, the company also produced ceremonial uniforms for the Australian squad competing at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.
Specifically Designed With recognizable polos, stylish sportscoats, and a useful puffer vest, the outfit plays off the country’s traditional gold and green color scheme. The clothing line-up is completed with neutral-hued chinos and traditional cotton shirts, each bearing the Birmingham 2022 insignia for the Australian R.M. Williams Commonwealth Games.
A unisex sneaker and specially made Comfort Craftsman and Comfort Erica boots with commemorative green and gold pulls are also offered in the footwear selection. The boots, which are made by hand in Australia, have a single-piece Coco Moulton leather top with the brand’s recognizable elastic sides.
The “Unity” emblem, created by Indigenous artist Jenna Lee via Brisbane-based company Gilimbaa, is included in the patterns of the polos, ties, scarves, and the inside of the vests. The works were made for the Gold Coast 2018 Reconciliation Action Plan. The Australian Team’s official outfits, which R.M. Williams created, had the Unity sign on some parts.
The Australian Commonwealth Games Team’s slogan, “Greater Together,” is complemented by the design’s theme, “Together with Unity.” It’s an honor to once again incorporate R.M. Williams’ outback spirit into the Australian R.M. Williams Commonwealth Games Team outfits, clothing our country’s athletic heroes for the opening and closing ceremonies says Scott Faulder, Head of Product Development at R.M. Williams.
The kits combine a contemporary sensibility with traditional Australian design and use the traditional color scheme of green and gold as well as the Unity symbol created by indigenous artist Jenna Lee. By producing the bulk of this collection in Australia, we advance sustainable production and domesticate manufacturing.
