The British-based engineering company Prodrive gained recognition with the legendary Subaru Impreza WRC car built for Colin McRae and Richard Burns.
However, as of 2008, Prodrive ran the research and development operations for Aston Martin’s endurance racing teams as well as Volkswagen’s rally teams. In other single-time projects, Prodrive developed engines for famous supercars such as the Aston Martin Vulcan.
Now, the team at Prodrive aims to take Dakar rally by storm, bringing in the BRX T1. The rally car will be part of Bahrain Raid Extreme team and will be driven by the legendary rally driver Sebastien Loeb.
The 3.5-liter twin turbo V6 engine designed by Prodrive will push out 400hp and 516 lb-ft. opf torque to all four wheels.
The chassis of BRX T1 was designed by none other than the legend Ian Callum. The car will have to endure a mixture of extreme conditions over 3,100 miles of Saudi Arabian desert.
The 2021 Dakar rally is set to start in January 2021. Find out more on Bahrain Raid Xtreme.
