Paul Rudd in Only Murders in the Building is what the show was missing. Arconia will soon be home to Paul Rudd since the adored actor, who played Broadway star Ben Glenroy, made a surprise cameo in the Only Murders in the Building season two finale. In Oliver’s (Martin Short) new play, his character was one of the players and was slated to appear opposite Charles (Steve Martin). Ben, however, only said one sentence before passing away on stage on opening night.
Fans won’t see the character again after that, though. Paul’s participation in season three of Murders in the Building was only officially confirmed by John Hoffman on August 23.
Hoffman said in a statement to other sources that “Paul Rudd, after making an auspicious entrance into the world of our show at the end of season two as Ben Glenroy, is someone we clearly want to know more about and see in our upcoming season three—as he is a clear source of many upcoming questions and, as always with our show, many twists yet to come!”
Paul will reunite with Selena Gomez, who played Mabel in Only Murders when he appears in season three of Fundamentals of Caring. By chance, Paul also portrayed Ben, a caretaker for Trevor (Craig Roberts), a disadvantaged youngster, in the 2016 movie. They become friends with Selena’s character Dot as they embark on a cross-country road trip.
Paul Rudd in Only Murders in the Building is only the start. Paul most certainly won’t be the only A-lister showing up in the third season of Only Murders.
Shirley MacLaine, Amy Schumer, and Cara Delvingne were among the high-profile celebrities that appeared as special guests in season two of the Hulu series. Perhaps Paul will call on some of his Marvel co-starts onto the set!
The show was co-created by Martin and Hoffman. Along with Dan Fogelman, Jamie Babbit, Jess Rosenthal, and Short, Martin, Hoffman, and Gomez serve as executive producers.
