Here is a look at the two musicians’ tumultuous history, from regular collaborators to outspoken feuds. The connection between Kanye West and Kid Cudi has been tumultuous throughout their respective careers.
The regular collaborators have occasionally been friends, performing and dining together, and occasionally they have criticized one another online.
In 2008, Cudi joined West’s G.O.O.D. Music label after the two had first met a few years previously. Then, West made an appearance on Cudi’s single “Make Her Say (I Poke Her Face)” from his 2009 album Man on the Moon: The End of Day, which served as the foundation for Cudi’s G.O.O.D. career.
Prior to releasing his solo music, Cudi had also contributed to West’s 808s & Heartbreak and Jay-The Z’s Blueprint 3. The two artists also collaborated on the songs “Erase Me” from the 2010 album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, “Gorgeous” and “All of the Lights” from Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and more recently, “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” from the 2016 album The Life of Pablo, which won Ye a Grammy for 24 times.
But it’s safe to say that we won’t be seeing these two on stage any time soon based on their most recent social media interactions. A timeline of the high points and low points of Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s relationship can be found below.
Cudi declared on Power 106 in Los Angeles on April 2, 2013, that he was leaving the G.O.O.D. organization. At the time, Cudi remarked, “Man, everything is cool.” “Everyone on the label is at peace with everything. Although there have never been any problems, I am now leaving G.O.O.D. Music. Furthermore, no one actually knows this. I have left G.O.O.D. Music.
Then later on Cudi claimed in his Esquire cover story that he is at peace with breaking things up and moving on from what he calls a poisonous, largely one-sided relationship. “I’ve appeared on every album that dude has released. On only two of mine has he been. That ought to enlighten you,” Cudi added in reference to Ye. Don’t think I didn’t inquire, either.
Ends with Kid Cudi claiming his friendship with Ye is “not good for me” on August 17, 2022.
