Just as before, this year’s SEMA didn’t disappoint. We have seen unique automotive marvels as well as amazing cars that will soon hit the market. SEMA is the place for acceptable weirdness. It’s also the place for awesomeness. One truck that caught our attention is the Chevrolet Colorado Z71 built for surfing. It is the result of collaboration between French automotive giant and US surfing and performance brand. Let’s see what this vacation off-roader has to offer.
Sleek and strong
The Z71 Surf Truck is based on the Colorado architecture. It sits on 17-inch wheels paired with Goodyear DuraTrac all-terrain tires. A concept lifted suspension keeps the truck up and ready to take on the sand. This surf truck takes along everything you need for the beach. It encapsulates space for two Pyzel surfboards, a Thule rack and Bimini-style bedcover.
Furthermore, Chevrolet took its part in the concept by adding off-road worthy accessories. The Z71 Surf Truck concept is equipped with off-road lights and sport assist steps. Most noteworthy, seats are built using ventiprene material. Ventiprene is breathable and dries in a blink of an eye. This way, it allows the surfer to jump right in without worrying about wet clothing.
Technology-wise, the Z71 Colorado is boasting 4G LTE WiFi hotspot so surfers stay connected to weather and surfing updates. Of course, you may also live stream surfing sessions from your waterproof iPhone.
The Z71 is performance oriented
In terms of engine power, the Z71 surf truck pumps out no less than 308 hp. Power is transmitted from a 3.6 liter V8 unit with direct injection and variable valve timing. As a result, it pulls as much as 7.000 pounds of mass without breaking a sweat. The transfer skid plate is there to make sure your truck won’t suffer damage when the pavement ends. There’s just one more thing to say: happy surfing!
