Talking about smart cars feels pretty ambiguous today. It has become quite difficult to understand what does a car have to be or what has to do in order to be “smart”. Can we have regular vehicles and make them smarter? Exploride says this is definitely possible, and for a small price actually. Started as a crowdfunding project on IndieGoGo, Exploride aims to offer some of the “smart” functions on an everyday vehicle, without any major changes done to the actual car. So, how does this miracle gadget works?

Mainly, Exploride consists of an out-of-future heads-up display. It allows the driver to access a vast number of functions such as maps, play music, call people and text, all while keeping hands on the wheel and eyes focussed on the road. Not using hands to command the display means only one thing: voice control. Yes, Exploride is made mainly to be controlled through voice commands, but it also supports gestures, making it easy to access different functions through a small pinch. Furthermore Exploride’s transparent screen offers critical data about the vehicle; just like when you connect a diagnose cable to the OBD system.
The Exploride app allows you to connect and sync data to the cloud, while the integrated 4G/LTE capabilities makes it possible to share a working internet connection with all the other passengers. Finally, record everything happening in front of your car using the built-in dashcam. At 5 megapixels, its quality is high enough to capture even smaller details that other dashcam systems may miss. This feature could be an insurance policy saver in case of an accident or could automatically capture an interesting event happening while you’re driving. Everything gets stored on a 16GB storage system.
