The song’s latest music video, *Music of the Spheres* was released in 2021.
On Wednesday, Coldplay unveiled a dramatic music video for the song “Humankind” (Aug. 17).
The video, which was recorded in Mexico City while the band was on its current world tour, shows Chris Martin and his bandmates playing a song from the album “Music of the Spheres” in front of a sizable audience of almost 260,000 spectators inside Foro Sol. As the crowd chants along with every other line and fireworks explode above the jam-packed stadium, Martin crows on the chorus, “I know, I know, I know/ We’re only human/ I know, I know, I know/ How we’re designed, yeah/ I know, I know, I know/ We’re only human/ But from another planet/ Still they call us humankind”.
Following the videos for “Biyutiful,” “People of the Pride,” “Let Somebody Go,” “My Universe” with BTS, a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, and other songs from their Music of the Spheres period, this one is the most recent from Coldplay.
The band’s tour is currently taking over London’s renowned Wembley Stadium for a week. For the first two of the six shows, Craig David and Martin collaborated to perform their early 2000s hits “7 Days” and “Fill Me In,” respectively. Natalie Imbruglia also made an unexpected appearance, teaming up with Martin to perform “Summer Nights” in memory of the late Olivia Newton-John.
Ahead of schedule and with a final leg in South America, Coldplay’s world tour is currently scheduled to run through early November. In June, the band passed the $1 billion mark in career tour earnings.
