Whenever you hear about a car which attains the name of a specific wheel brand in its name, you expect to see that particular vehicle wearing those new rims and looking fancy. Vossen Wheels took the concept one step further and fundamentally changed the aspect of this BMW i8. Black is the new black, right? Because soon you’ll be getting plenty of it.
Table of Contents
1. First, the rims
Codename “LC-104”, these forged, fully polished rims stand at 22×9 and 22×10.5 for the rear wheels. According to Vossen website, fitting tires must measure 245-30-22 for the front and 285-25-22 for the rear wheels. Obviously, a bigger rear end is desired for an aggressive look and better downforce. Not that it lacks any by default.
2. Air suspension
Vossen’s BMW i8 might not be the first car to feature air suspension but this one definitely looks brilliant. Designed by AccuAir, this performance suspension system starts from the back of the i8 and then webs to the wheels through shiny air ducts. When in stanced mode, the i8 has barely enough space to fit a leaf between the bumper and the tarmac.
3. The whole deal
It’s low, black and mean. That’s probably the best way to characterize it. Vossen did not change anything in terms of engine performance (we are a little far from being able to custom tune electric engines); however, the i8 is powerful enough as it comes out of the factory. On the other hand, a matte black paint combines brilliantly with a lower center of gravity and perfectly chosen rims.
