You’re drooling. It’s okay, we were too when we saw this beauty for the first time. The perfect blend of simplicity in its lines and aggressiveness in its proportions give it a truly one-of-a kind, custom-built look.
Just the kind of customized bikes we have come to expect from the master builders of Auto Fabrica. The Southend-on-Sea-based motorcycle workshop specializes in hand making and coach building of bespoke motorcycles.
The Auto Fabrica BMW R65 ‘Type 10B’ is a testament to the company’s meticulous eye for detail and high levels of craftsmanship, as well as the delicate balance of form and function.
This build is a beautiful marriage of the old and new. The 1980 R65 was completely stripped down to the frame in order to smooth out any paint imperfections. It was also fitted with a revamped subframe and tail end.
The bike’s frame was de-lugged and lightened for a faster profile. While modern electronics were also added such as new motogadget components, vape ignition, and LED lighting housed in 3D printed casing at the rear. For assured performance, the engine was also rebuilt.
From the side, you can see the Auto Fabrica signature: a new exhaust system anchored by two stainless steel tubes sweeping out the back. The twin 316 curves complement the 18” Cast Aluminium wheels at the bottom and a massive but smooth tank at the top.
The custom R80 tank is finished in Ferrari Silver for a subtle look that goes well with the slim black navy seat in suede. The monochrome and silver combination easily speaks timeless classic.
The overall facade of the Auto Fabrica BMW R65 is one of understated elegance and beauty, without losing its impressive toughness and masculinity. A design cohesiveness rarely seen in a motorcycle build, especially from a young, 6 year old company. It’s no wonder we’re all drooling. And there’s no shame in that.
