In 2015, Volkswagen T6 celebrated its 65th anniversary, proving that for more than half a century, the German automaker was able to provide exquisite quality and style for every driver out there. However, there are even older stories than this one. ABT Sportsline is on the move for 120 years providing “traditional innovation”. Paying homage to what has been one of their favorite transport cars, ABT released an amped up version of VW’s T6.
This special anniversary edition has been pumped up to go from 200 to 235 hp, all taken out from a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel unit. Pushing 490 Nm of torque to the ground, T6 is definitely able to tow a lot of heavy loads. As ABT CEO, Hans-Jürgen Abt, mentions, taking kids to school and carrying groceries should be fun. And with such a look, it definitely is.
Aerodynamics
Specifically built for T6, the aerodynamic kit applied by ABT not only streamlines the van, but it also provides an amazing visual effect. Red lining goes in great contrast with the dark grey body coating, while the 120th anniversary lettering is strategically placed.
It’s exhausting
Literally. The rear skirt of VW’s T6 has been upgraded to feature 4 exhaust pipes, and a better sound by default. Front grille, front and rear bumper as well as side skirts have all being redesigned by ABT in order to provide a better looking visual. Regular shock and spring system has been replaced with coilovers, dropping the van a few centimeters.
