Until now, drones have been known to deliver Amazon products. Not anymore. Boeing Australia has delivered what could very well be the future of drones, and the future of warfare – The Loyal Wingman.
Combat Drone
It is no state secret that drones are a part of the military apparatus. They are deployed to perform surveillance in congested, high-risk areas. Boeing Australia’s Loyal Wingman takes a giant leap forward by offering a combat option. Where the new drone sets the benchmark is A.I – artificial intelligence.
The Wingman will not need a human operator to control it from a remote location. Instead, the drone will rely on algorithms to execute the plan of action. Reports suggest that a minimal manual control will exist, but nothing like the day’s bulky technology.
Australia Steps It Up
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has hailed the innovation as “A truly historic moment for our country and for Australian defense innovation. The Loyal Wingman will be pivotal to exploring the critical capabilities our Air Force needs to protect our nation and its allies into the future.”
The RAAF is all set to conduct advance tests with the new-age drone. Integration will be the next step for the Loyal wingman. Not a bad way to utilise the lockdown.
