Getting that perfect Tinder profile photo needn’t be difficult. You don’t have to choose footwear and pants. On second thought, you don’t even need to be wearing them. However, there are a few tips and pointers to snag to increase the rate of right-swiping and your prospects.
Sit by a window with good natural lighting. That will improve the quality of the picture tenfold. Additionally, rather than struggle, get a friend to take the picture for you.
Smile. Show your teeth. Don’t grin because that may seem creepy. Don’t frown. You’re not getting a mugshot. Try not to come across like a serial killer.
Be you. Don’t wear a monocle, with a moustache and a top hat unless you plan on wearing it on the first date. Few men can pull off a monocle, so the likelihood is you won’t either.
Keep your clothes on. I mean, really?! Does this require an explanation?
Wear something comfortable, clean and make it something you’re most likely to wear every day. You’re not going for a job interview.
Show your face. Don’t shy away, at some point you’re going to have to meet your potential date. In the superficial world of Tinder dating, people pass judgement on someone, purely on the way they look. It’s harsh, I know, but roll with the punches. Do everything you can, brush your hair, hide your double chin by lowering your head slightly.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. If you aren’t a supermodel, it can feel awkward taking photos for dating profiles. If it’s not working, relax and try something different. Failing that, you can always go down the traditional route and head down to the bar.
