Eighteen years ago, Sennheiser created the Orpheus. It raised the bar so high, no other audio producer managed to provide a better alternative. That is, until now. Funny, Sennheiser are the ones to overcome themselves with a product of great finesse and technology. We’re talking about a $30,000 pair of headphones, named HE1.
The headphones come with their own tube amplifier, carefully crafted from Carrara marble – same material used by Michelangelo to sculpt. The main property of marble is its ability to dampen structure noises. The top of the amplifier case is covered in crystal clear glass.
Sennheiser HE1 features a huge dynamic range, between 8 Hz and 100 kHz. Furthermore, it boasts the lowest distortion measured ever on a musical system: 0.01% or 100 db SPL. The solid aluminum cups use sophisticated diaphragms along with hi-voltage amplifiers to generate sound. This way, the need for electromagnets is removed. Sennheiser HE1 are the first premium electrostatic headphones.
To generate the best possible sound without distortion, Sennheiser employs a variety of precious materials. From silver coated cables to gold connectors – all work together to ensure the bliss for any audiophile.
Sennheiser HE1 are available via selected retailers for around $30,000.
