Also called “the iPod of audiophiles”, this portable audio system is not only capable of playing lossless formats like Ogg, FLAC, WAV, WMA and APE (aside the usual MP3, of course), but also Mastering Quality Sound files (MQS) from online stores like HDtracks.com. It’s bulky but packs a lot of punch: it has 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 96GB via two microSD card slots), a 2,000 mAH battery for up to 16 hours of continuous audio playback, a 2.4-inch touchscreen and, to top the list, a Wolfson 8740 DAC. Another plus is that the AK100 can act as an external DAC for computers or CD players when connected via the integrated optical out jack or USB.
