It’s not unusual to see luxury automakers aiding or putting their fingerprint on side-products like perfumes or clothing lines. However, the 1990 Riva 32 speedboat takes influence to the next level. This iconic-looking watercraft resulted from the collaboration between Ferrari and shipyard Riva, the latter being famous for collaborating in the past with other automotive names: Lamborghini and McLaren.
A rather small package
Compared to other luxury speedboats, Riva 32 measures slightly under 10 meters (32 feet) and it’s propelled by a pair of Vulcano 400 V8 engines totaling a displacement of 16 liters (8.0 liters per unit). The two V8s are able to push the boat forward at up to 72 km/h or 60 mph. Not bad for a boat that’s 26 years old.
Ferrari fingerprint on the inside
If the specific Ferrari red colorway and the prancing horse emblem weren’t enough of a clue that this boat is fully inspired from the style of the Italian automaker, wait until you get to check out the interior. Dials, steering wheel, dials and sliders are all built into the style of the 90’s Ferrari F40.
Only 40 pieces of the speedboat are known to be made, the one listed here being the 28th. If you are willing to get your hands on it, here’s your chance: Riva Ferrari 32 is going for auction at Monaco later this month. The auction is being held by RM Sotheby’s and the expected sale value rests somewhere above the $200,000 tag. Apart from the exclusivist price, there will probably be astronomical maintenance prices.
