Blu Vivo 5, The Newcomer
The Miami based smartphone company Blu has officially announced at CES 2016, in January, the final plans and release date for Blu Vivo 5 (and his little brother Blu Vivo 5 XL). The reason why I picked this one to talk about is because Blu Vivo 5 actually has the potential to rule over the low-cost segment of smartphones.
This is because the model looks pretty good both in pictures and specs. Most of you probably didn’t hear about them until now, but this is the reason I am here. To assure you what these guys are doing is quality and with this model they should claim their spot at the big boys table.
This will be their first phone built exclusively on metal, which is a great step ahead. Released in February this year, Blu Vivo 5 will be featured in two color options: white-silver or solid gold.
The Good And The Bad
The Operating System used will be, of course, Android but the nice surprise is that the 5.1 Lollipop will be upgradeable to Marshmallow from the moment you turn it on for the first time. When we realize that less than 1 percent of the total Android phones are on Marshmallow, and things not changing for at least the next couple of months, we can then affirm this is a big plus.
The phone will function on a 5.5-inch screen, standing at 1.280×720-pixel resolution. Maybe we can raise some questions here. Probably, a lower screen on that resolution would have been a better choice. 13 MP rear camera with 1080 HD video capture possible and the standard 5 MP front camera. The phone is dual-SIM, having a 32GB internal storage and a 3GB of RAM.
The announced processor is where the main leakage might come from: it is a 1.3 GHz octa-core Mediatek 6753 processor, a bit old and with somehow less in performance, but remember, Blu phones are some kind of an entry level thing for anyone wanting to get a hold of Android and play around with what the Google based OS has to offer. For the money you spend, you get a nice phone and the guarantee of a pleasant experience.
