For the last several weeks, Kanye West has used his Instagram account to openly criticize Adidas and Gap, claiming that both clothing behemoths made choices about their Yeezy partnerships without consulting him or getting his permission.
He wants to approach his future endeavors individually because it appears that the creative differences have reached a breaking point. Ye told sources over the phone that “It’s time for me to go it alone.”
“It’s fine. I made the company’s money. The companies made me money. We created ideas that will change apparel forever. Like the round jacket, the foam runner, and the slides that have changed the shoe industry. Now it’s time for Ye to make the new industry. No more companies standing in between me and the audience.” He continued.
Kanye’s comments come after similar ones made recently by the singer and fashion designer. As Complex revealed last month, Ye thinks Adidas manufactured Yeezy hues without his knowledge and founded Yeezy Day without his consent. He also thinks the corporation copied his Yeezy slides “blatantly” with its Adillette 22 slides.
Kanye now uses Instagram as his primary platform for airing his complaints. He’s also referred to Adidas Senior Vice President and General Manager Daniel Cherry as a “weakling in a position of artificial power” and called outgoing Adidas CEO Kasper Rrsted a “death” in a mock New York Times front page earlier this month, using the same digital volley he used against former friend Kid Cudi.
Kanye’s the primary platform for airing these complaints is now Instagram. He also referred to Adidas Senior Vice President and General Manager Daniel Cherry as a “weaker in a position of artificial authority” earlier this month when he used the same digital salvo he used against erstwhile pal Kid Cudi to attack outgoing Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted.
However, Kanye will probably attempt independence on his terms. He has the wealth to do so, and his millions of fans will eat up his next offering. However, he is fighting alone in this battle against those who do not want to live in Yeezyland.
