They have a very long history. Louis Tomlinson talked about the prospect of a One Direction reunion during his interview on the UK television program Lorraine on September 8.
The singer said, “One day, there’s a lot of moving factors but it would be a pity if we didn’t. I hope so,” when presenter Lorraine Kelly questioned about the band reuniting.
One Direction’s initial lineup included singers Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne in addition to Louis. Prior to disbanding in 2016, the boy band first rose to stardom on the seventh season of The X Factor.
The surviving four members of the band released one more album, Made In The A.M., before they broke up in 2015, although Zayn was the first to quit the group.
Louis nodded and said, “I hope so,” when Lorraine suggested a “major event” that would reunite the group.
Louis said that the COVID-19 shutdown gave him time to develop his musical approach and that he is getting ready to release his second solo album, Faith in the Future.
“Everyone’s experience [of lockdowns] is individual. For, I spend a lot of my life thinking about what the next thing is. If I didn’t have that time to reset, it may well have been a different record, so I feel happy to have that time. It was a bit of a process on my first record. There was an element of trial and error. Obviously coming out of a band the size of One Direction, it takes time to find yourself, musically, but I really think I’ve found it on this album and this single.” Louis mentions.
Louis provided some historical perspective on how he dealt with the celebrity that came with being in one of the top boybands of his time, stating “It’s easier to see now from the outside looking in, it was a crazy time but amazing to go through with other people. It would have been scary to go through it alone at that age.”
