Netflix has confirmed a fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy. Thursday (August 25) saw the announcement announced by the show’s creator, Steve Blackman, who said: “I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago. But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.”

It has been revealed that the cast members Colm Feore, Ritu Arya, Aidan Gallagher, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, and Aidan Page will all return for the fourth season.
Blackman gave Tudum a preview of what was to come when he said:
“This new timeline has been dictated by Hargreeves, who reprogrammed the universe at the end of the season three finale. But because of Allison’s actions, he didn’t get to finish what he started before Allison pressed the button. So, the siblings losing their powers isn’t going to be the only oddity in this timeline. There are new enemies who want to see them wiped out of existence, but how do they manage without their powers? Is there even a way to get them back? The stakes have never been greater.”
Netflix also announced an expanded creative engagement with Blackman, who is creating two new projects for the streaming service, in addition to the renewal. One of the endeavors is the co-written by Michelle Lovretta television adaptation of the computer game Horizon Zero Dawn.
According to the interview, the show’s main heroine Aloy would be followed in an “extremely lush and vibrant universe of man and machine who find themselves on a collision course to oblivion,” just like the Guerrilla Games-created source material.
In addition, Blackman is developing the space drama Orbital, which will be filmed aboard the International Space Station. The show “shares my love of black humor, characters who live on the edge, and wild action sequences,” the creator claims, while also being unlike anything he has done previously.
“The Umbrella Academy has always danced the line between The Boys’ over-the-top superhero rampage and the grounded morals of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but remains its own distinct thing,” NME noted in a five-star review of The Umbrella Academy season three.
