Coconut pancakes are a cheat day staple at Casa Rock.
Nearly as iconic as the actor’s legendary training sessions are Dwayne Johnson’s cheat day meals. The hench actor is well known for treating himself to massive portions of breakfast food on Sundays after working up an extreme appetite in his Iron Paradise. French toast, eggs, biscuits, and pancakes are all frequently consumed.
The “best pancakes he ever had” were consumed at a restaurant in Hawaii, so Johnson asked private chef and pancake maker Janette “Puttie” Clark to make the same recipe at home.
The majority of the flavors were inspired by requests from Dwayne, said Clark, the creator of Simply PUTT’s Pancakes.
“He wanted coconut banana, and I used the base of my pancake recipe, and made coconut banana. He asked for lemon poppyseed, I made lemon poppyseed. Then one day he asked for pineapple. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it surprised me how well it came out—pineapple just infuses in such a nice way.”
Johnson simply ate them again for his most recent cheat day over the weekend, topping them with butter, blueberry jam, and maple syrup because the pineapple and coconut combination was so delicious. The accompanying Instagram post described the outcome as “well earned” and “insanely delicious.”
On Sundays, he really enjoys eating, Clark remarked. “I get to dream up the meals. He tells me what he wants, and then I get creative. But I have to say, on the other days of the week, I don’t know anyone who is as disciplined as he is… He’s very focused on his well-being. It works well for him.”
