Tomorrow, the ninth season of Beavis and Butt-Head, back after 11 years, will premiere on Paramount+ on August 4th. When it does, viewers will witness the show’s namesake pair offer satirical analysis of music videos by artists including Tyler, The Creator, BTS, and Olivia Rodrigo.
Most episodes of the cartoon series, which made its MTV debut in 1993, featured Beavis and Butt-Head both of whose voices were provided by the show’s creator Mike Judge. Watching and responding to music videos that had just been released by giving entertaining reactions and commentary.
They tended to respond favorably to violent or emotionally charged films and were drawn to rock bands like Metallica and the Butthole Surfers.
This continued with the first revival of Beavis and Butthead in 2011, which relocated from MTV to Comedy Central and aired for a single 22-episode season.
The duo provided commentary on music videos for artists including Skrillex, Katy Perry, MGMT, and the Plain White Ts.
Although the specific clips that will appear in the upcoming ninth season of the show have not yet been determined, Pitchfork announced yesterday on August 2nd that seven musicians had been confirmed to appear in its 12 episodes. These include Post Malone, Camila Cabello, Cale Dodds, and CNCO in addition to the first three.
Comedy Central has released an eight-minute sneak peek of the second section of the first episode, titled “The Special One,” in advance of its tomorrow debut. Beavis and Butt-Head respond to a few TikTok videos, with the former revealing that he is a well-known admirer of BTS.
The launch of the feature film Beavis And Butt-Head Do The Universe in June marked the beginning of the second Beavis And Butt-Head revival, which was scheduled to begin in 2020. That made its debut only on the Paramount+ streaming service, just like the current season of the show.
