It’s 2014 and we’ve all found out by now that some things never go out of style, no matter how far technology advances and how futuristic incoming ideas are. This is especially true for solid, quality items since “they don’t make’em like they used to” and that is why today we’re shedding light on a classic BMW R45 motorcycle, brought to life and given a stylish new look, to better fit this decade. The BMW R45 has been around since the late 70’s – early 80’s and was designed as a smaller version of its predecessors, but despite its neater appearance, it still weighs a solid 425 lbs. The engine is of fiat-twin configuration and although performance is not the R45’s strongest selling point, you can still reach a top speed of 95 mph. Reconditioned, one of these babies will probably make you look like a bad-ass adventurer and the excellent fuel consumption (an average of 55 to 60 mpg) is undeniably a great advantage. The chocolate model of R45 in the pictures below has been rebuilt by a company settled in Portugal, called Ton-up Garage. Daniel and Pedro, the owners of Ton-up Garage have made a living out of their passion of bringing to light forgotten pieces and even building ones from scratch. They focus on motorcycles made between the 50’s and the 80’s and the lifestyle that came with them, always making sure that their models are as authentic as possible. They aren’t the only ones who get such beautiful results, so take a look at how you can put a twist on a classic engine like the BMW R45. [photomosaic]
